Vice Chancellor of UNER commends ActionAid for its commitment towards climate justice
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Environment and Natural Resources (UNER), Professor Elvis Asare- Bediako, has commended ActionAid for its commitment towards addressing climate-related crises.
The commendation follows a successful partnership between the two institutions towards education and the creation of awareness on climate justice.
He explained that UNER is committed to the partnership with ActionAid to raise awareness and build the capacity of people on climate change.
Professor Asare- Bediako said this when leaders of ActionAid led by the Board Chair, Nana Yaw Okyere-Aduachie paid a visit to his office.
The visit was part of a five-day field trip to ActionAid's programme communities in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions to solicit feedback from partners, collaborators and beneficiaries on the impact of programmes.
John Nkaw, Country Director of AcitonAid Ghana commended the authorities of UNER for exhibiting leadership towards the sensitisation of Ghanaians on climate-related crises.
He said one of the goals of ActionAid’s advocacy on climate justice and agroecology is to build the resilience of farmers and provide the needed support to the government to identify the country’s climate vulnerabilities.
The Board Chairman, Nana Yaw Okyere- Aduachie, noted that ActionAid runs its programmes through collaboration with likeminded organisations, therefore, the visit was part of an engagement to record feedback from partners and collaborators to help revise its programme and project implementation approach.
He said ActionAid as a development organisation cannot achieve its target without recognizing the important role and value the university adds to the country’s development agenda.
