ActionAid Ghana Trains Farmers on Compost Production in Nadowli Kaleo District, Sissala West and WA municipal .

As part of the GIZ Ghana-funded "Strengthening Community Resilience Through Community Action Plans (CAPs)" project, ActionAid Ghana is intensifying efforts to support smallholder women farmers in maintaining soil health through sustainable practices such as compost production, conservation agriculture, and erosion control.
This week, the Upper West Regional Programme Team of ActionAid Ghana is hosting series of Compost Production Training in the communities of Nator, Loho, Naribu , Tangasia , Samatigu, Papu located in the Nadowli Kaleo District, Busa in WA municipal and Nyantie in the sissala West district
The training, which targets nine communities, aims to equip between 50 to 200 smallholder farmers—both women and men—with practical knowledge and skills to improve soil fertility using locally available resources such as cow dung, dry grasses , wet leaves, ash, ruminant droppings , saw dust , soyabean leaves etc.
By promoting eco-friendly farming techniques, this initiative contributes to long-term food security, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods for rural communities in the Upper West Region.
