ActionAid Ghana, in partnership with the Kamba Media Foundation and Intel Corporation, has commissioned a state-of-the-art AI-powered computer laboratory and resource centre at the Bamvim Cluster of Schools in the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, reaffirming its commitment to equal access to education and gender-responsive public service delivery.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Monday, February 9, 2026, brought together key stakeholders in Ghana’s education sector, including the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and the Paramount Chief of the Bamvim Traditional Area, Na-Ziblim. Their presence highlighted the collective role of government, traditional authorities, civil society, and the private sector in strengthening inclusive and future-ready education systems.

The newly commissioned facility is designed to enhance digital literacy, creativity, and innovation among basic school pupils, particularly those in underserved communities. Equipped with advanced technology, the centre will provide learners with practical exposure to digital tools, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, ActionAid Ghana emphasized that access to quality education must not be determined by geography, gender, or socio-economic status. The organisation underscored the importance of ensuring that girls and marginalized learners benefit equitably from digital transformation in education.

The Country Director underscored that ActionAid Ghana believes is a shared responsibility. Hence, we have been building movements, collaboration, and partnership as an imperative for the delivery of public services. In this regard, he recounted and appreciated the support of the Minstry of Education, especially the Hon. Minister of Education and the funding support of Intel and Kamba Media Foundation that made the pilot Global Innovative Beacon Schools project a reality.

“This intervention reflects our belief that public services, including education, must be responsive, inclusive, and equitable,” By investing in digital infrastructure at the basic level, we are laying the foundation for a more just and innovative future for all children.”~ John Nkaw, Country Director.

The AI-powered computer laboratory is expected to serve as a critical learning hub for pupils and teachers within the Bamvim community, contributing to improved learning outcomes and increased interest in science, technology, and innovation.

Through initiatives such as this, ActionAid Ghana continues to demonstrate how advocacy, partnerships, and community-centred development can work together to advance education, close gender gaps, and ensure that no child is left behind.
